After over a year of waiting and postponing, Santiras debut album is officially set to release on streaming services on Friday, October 8th, over a year after it's original release date, August 13, 2020. This version being the 8th version of the album, it takes elements and song ideas from all seven previous versions and combines them to make the complete, fleshed out product that is the twelve tack LAUGHING THROUGH THE APOCALYPSE experience.  Just when you think you've pinned down the sound of a song, it switches up out of left field and no two songs sound alike on the album. All twelve songs deliver with grand, ethereal production, and raw, deep cutting verses from Saint. This sudden switch of sound is extremely captivating to bear witness to while experiencing the near hour long album for the first time, and this is Santiago at his absolute most inspired. Gone are the days of jazz-rap and bedroom pop Santira, as the predictable and familiar sounds of his early catalog are replaced by gorgeous, layered synths drenched in reverb and cloudy melodies that will stay in your head for days after hearing them.  As the album splits into two equal halves, the general tone and vibe of the music presented takes a sudden shift after track six, 'NOTES N' THE NITE', as 'APOCALYPSE' kicks in, and the rest of the album is taken to it's darkest corners. From the fast paced beat on 'INSOMNIA' to the slow, swirling synths on 'MIDNITE' and 'FINALE', the second leg of the album is the most diverse and experimental production we have heard Santira work with to this day. From lowkey, hard hitting bangers like "TROUBLE" and "APOCALYPSE", to gorgeous experimental masterpieces such as "FINALE" and "MIDNITE" Dropping one of his most powerful and well-written verses on 'NOTES N THE NITE' , 'MIDNITE' and 'MISUNDERSTOOD', over what seems to be this droning melody overshadowed by some loud and full booming drums as the song goes from a calm, repetitive intro, to a storm of explosive drums and distorted, reversed vocals as it leads perfectly into the cloudy, beautiful 'SZN 2 INTERLUDE' The album is a sonic and narrative exploration of the human search for identity, from growing into a young adult, to finding yourself after the end of a relationship, to even existentialism. Overall, 'LAUGHING THROUGH THE APOCALYPSE' is the best body of work we have gotten from Santira yet, and as stated in his interview featured on the exclusive Waiting For the Apocalypse magazine, his second album (ethereal 9) will take his sound to even more boundary pushing heights. So as we wait patiently for the next release from Saint himself, LAUGHING THROUGH THE APOCALYPSE is the perfect album to put on for a spiritual journey to self-reflect and learn to grow and adapt.
